ARTISTIC STATEMENT
One Part Art – One Part Science
The creation of my works - mostly images that are not found in nature or galleries is driven by continuous experimentation with unconventional materials. It is labor intensive: Terra incognita!
Similar to the synthesis of novel molecules, where new chemical reactions and/or reagents may make this goal possible, less conventional media and/or new techniques can occasionally yield unique images/patterns.
Technical knowledge of the properties of such experimental media can increase the success. Among them are stability, adhesion, compatibility with other materials, reactivity toward oxidative conditions, familiarity with classical and modern sources on artist materials (Doerner, Mayer, Gmelin, Ball).
A successful combination of media and sequence/s of techniques can serve as an avenue toward novel, abstract images.
The final phase, selecting interesting works for display, is governed by my life as a scientist and an artist and by my life's latent and lasting experiences.
Titles are offered to stimulate the viewer’s imagination.
